We couldn't be more thrilled with the amazing Guest Bakeries at the COOKGIRL HOLIDAY MARKET, December 12 - 19, 2015
HEWN: WEDNESDAY, December 16th
Hewn Artisan Hand Forged Breads were a big hit at the COOKGIRL HOLIDAY MARKET on Wednesday, December 16th. Hewn was founded in 2013 by local Chicago residents Ellen King and Julie Matthei and they are pros who are bringing back true bread making. The word “hewn” is a way to connect the past with the future. Made in-house and from scratch and every day, the beautiful breads and gorgeous pound cakes in the HOLIDAY MARKET were sourced from small, local farmers and the breads are all handmade without commercial yeast with 100% organic ingredients. Hewn also serves a selection of sandwiches Tuesday - Friday and flatbreads every Friday. Stop in, have a cup of Counter Culture coffee and enjoy bread the way it is supposed to be made.
Hewn: Country Loaf, Whole Wheat Seeded Loaf, Picholine Olive Loaf, Parmesan Garlic Loaf and Lemon Pound Cake, Chocolate Pound Cake for the holidays!
FIONA: THURSDAY, December 17th
Local resident and baker Fiona McCarthy has made a special stock of her famously organic, all-natural zucchini bread for sale at the HOLIDAY MARKET. Not for sale anywhere else, the bread will be gone soon, with the net proceeds benefitting the COOKGIRL FOUNDATION.
